Angel ArtWork

My love for drawing began at a very young age. I remember spending hours drawing families of people, dogs and cats in kindergarten and first grade. Around the third grade, my parents signed me up for art lessons.  Huber King was my first teacher (well known artist internationally known for his wood sculpting). He taught me drawing and shading techniques using charcoal; advancing me to watercolor and oil painting. My natural interest has never stopped. Over the years watercolor and prismacolor pencils have become my favorite medium. My largest painting was a mural of Emerald City from the Wizard of Oz. It covered a full wall in an elementary school cafeteria with 6 foot figures of Dorothy, the Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion.

My interest in painting angels began in 2001 after several life experiences of losing loved ones. I knew I wanted to paint angels, but never seeing an angel made it an extraordinary task until the time, my father was very ill and in the hospital. Things were getting worse and they had to hook him up to a breathing ventilator. During the night, his wife said 3 angels drifted close to his room. I asked her what they looked like and she described them as "very transparent flowing beings with no defined faces or detailed ornamentation." This led me to try to duplicate what an angel might look like using the interpretation of "flowing, light filled and with purpose of bringing love, light or messages to others." Today, I have a collection of 34 named angel designs.
